Media Release

In a first for the Sunshine Coast, Maleny Rangers Football Club has announced a major new direction for the club with the establishment of the Maleny Rangers Football Academy for the 2017 season.  The club has partnered with K3 Coaching to deliver professional soccer coaching to all members of the club.

In announcing this initiative, club president Mark Ramke said “I believe this is a first for football on the Sunshine Coast.  While other clubs have established academies, the Maleny Rangers Football Academy will be accessible to all players across the club as part of their membership, while the club is still maintaining the most affordable membership fees on the coast”.

The academy program will run on Monday afternoons for the whole season with a focus on skills acquisition, game understanding and team work.  K3 has designed programs which will enhance both the skills and performance of all players and also provide players of all ages and ability levels with a fun and safe environment to learn and play.

Ramke says “This initiative will focus and amplify the aspirations of our young footballers and build on the pathway the club is providing for players of all ages and abilities to continue playing football with the club through to senior level.  Although we are still a relatively small club, today marks an important milestone in our long term growth and a crucial element in retaining our most talented juniors and attracting new players to the club.

“The academy will also provide an opportunity for our team coaches to participate and gain valuable experience to build into their own coaching sessions.  It is envisaged that team coaches will attend the academy sessions with their players and either be active participants or keen observers”.

K3 have already run successful coaching programs and camps in Maleny during 2016.   Maleny Rangers Director of Coaching for Junior teams, Dean Pearce has overseen these sessions and has been glowing in his assessment “I have already seen huge improvements in many of our young players. The coaches from K3 really know how to structure an engaging and entertaining session for the kids”.
