As usual our wonderful volunteers will be cooking up a storm on the BBQ, FREE snags.

Under 6 players are FREE in 2012. Any child born in 2006/2007 will pay no fees, only the cost of their match gear.

Overview of Workshop
A coaching Philosophy and Vision for Sunshine Coast Football.

A totally game based way of teaching football from late SSF to early Youth Footballers.

It is a simple but effective, enjoyable way to teach football that will accelerate all players “Football Game Sense”, with an emphasis on passing, patience and keeping possession.

The Sunshine Coast Football Coaching Philosophy and Vision is a 2 part educational program aimed potential coaches from parents of our players at identifying and training.

To educate coaches in this simple but effective style to then coach at our local clubs and to pass on the program, philosophy and vision.

Part 2

Train and coach all players in a totally game related way, This training will accelerate our game smartness/game sense as all players will be playing football nonstop in all trainings, thus working on the 4 functional game skills of First Touch, Running with the Ball, Passing and 1 v 1′s plus movement and decision making with all of the game specific resistances.

The womens team ‘PINK PANTHERS’ made up of players mainly from the Maleny Rangers Football Club, came away with the ‘GOALIE OF THE TOURNAMENT TROPHY’ awarded to Natalie Hyde.

“Our team has won this trophy 3 out of the 4 years that we have played, which is a fantastic result, said Serena Brejcha, Team Manager of the Pink Panthers.

The mens team ‘BLACK PANTHERS’ also from the Maleny Rangers Football Club with players from Rockhampton & Bundaberg to lend a helping hand, was successful in achieving the ‘FAIR PLAY TEAM AWARD’, another great result especially since this is the teams first year of playing in the Masters.

A big thank you goes to Bob Smoothey – Coodinator and all committee members for organising this event each year for us oldies to showcase our ‘football skills’, to get together with old friends and make new ones!!

Maleny Rangers will once again be holding a stall at the Christmas Street Carnival on Friday 9th December.

Why not come down and enjoy a hot chicken kebab, cold drink or choose from an assortment of freshly baked cakes (including gluten free). Hope to see you there!

The Roar blow up soccer field was a huge success with young and old alike, with organized games to keep everyone entertained. As always, the jumping castle proved popular with the younger members.

Thanks to everyone involved in planning, setting up and running the day’s events and to all the club members and their families for making it a day to remember.

Congratulations to all those who won awards on the day and during the season, for their efforts both on and off the field. We look forward to seeing all our players, coaches and managers back next season and welcome new members to our club.

Saturday September 10th was a big day for our Maleny Rangers U16 girls team as they made the trip to Maroochydore for the Grand Final against Bribie Island.

Having received the Premiership Trophy for finishing the season on top of the ladder, only 1 loss, a lot was expected of our girls. A massive turnout from

Maleny to support them was a much welcomed sight.

In the most blustery windy conditions we have ever played in we knew it was going to be a tough game. The Maleny girls hit the field with intent and the battle began.

The tackling was intense and we knew that speed and passing was to be our natural game. Bribie Island took control of the ball early in the first half and tried very hard to convert this to goals. Molly Erickson and our defence stood up and made sure nothing got through. The first half concluded nil all.

The second half began with Maleny all fired up and as soon as the whistle was blown, we took control of the game. Our strikers, wings and mid field worked magic keeping the ball low and passing. Our first goal! This was put away by Ruby Donohoe but was a testament to team play. Spirits much bolstered, the play got a lot harder as Bribie struggled to even the score. Summer McGladrigan soon put a stop to that with a beautiful goal getting past their goalkeeper. The game wasn’t over, but our girls were on top of the play. With 5 minutes to go, an injured Sarquin Hunt took to the field and almost scored a third goal! The game finished with a 2 – nil win to Maleny.

Special mention must also be made of Mary-Anne Bryce who played the game with a totally bandaged hand due to taking the top off her finger!

We also acknowledge the help of the U14 girls and their parents who have supported us and played for us this season.

At the medal ceremony, Molly Erickson was awarded the Player of the Game, congratulations. None of this would have been possible without our coach Grant Erickson and the support of parents and the Maleny Rangers Football Club. We look forward to a great season again next year!

As was expected, both teams hit the field, intent on a win. With gusty winds and splatterings of rain the girls had to pull out their best play, and they did.

With Summer McGladrigan rejoining us after injury, the team worked some passing magic and Summer scored a wonderful goal before half time. This immediately bolstered their confidence and the second half saw some big kicks, beautiful passing and solid defence. Kawana weren’t about to give up and kept attacking our play with ferocity which saw an answering goal scored. The game continued until a free kick was awarded to us and Mary-Ann Bryce scored a most amazing back of the top net goal.

This cinched it and the game was ours! The Maleny girls played a very hard game and should be very proud of themselves!

They are now to play in the Grand Finals this Saturday, 10th September, 12.30pm at Maroochydore. Please come and support our girls!

The U16 girls played a close, hard fought match against Bribie, at Maroochydore, in torrential rain. There were many near goals by both teams and the goalies are to be commended for doing so well in these conditions. Unfortunately the girls suffered a defeat on this occasion with a 1-0 loss to Bribie but they’ll have a second chance at the finals when they play again next weekend.

The girls have held on to top place on the ladder all season and the highlight of the day was receiving the trophy as U16G/2 Premiers for 2011.

Come and support the girls next weekend when they take on Kawana, at Caloundra, in the preliminary finals.
