THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF MALENY RANGERS SOCCER CLUB INC WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY THE 30TH NOVEMBER 2008 AT THE BIG BARREL WINERY, 269 LANDSBOROUGH/MALENY Rd. AT 4-00 PM. THE MEETING WILL BE FOLLOWED BY LIGHT REFRESHMENTS.

U11’s 13/09/2008 Maleny vs Buderim Black (Grand Final)

Well this was it, the day of the final had finally come and Maleny didn’t disappoint! The boys went out firing and just didn’t let up. It was a carnival atmosphere with a cheer-squad on the side-line. The U11’s went out to win and that’s just what they did; not without a fight though with Buderim Black living up to it’s reputation as a tough team to beat. Great work from every player gave Maleny the upper hand and they finally scored a goal through and sheer doggedness and great team-work. Everyone had their heart in their mouth as we waited for the final whistle, but Maleny hung on to win the Grand Final trophy for 2008. The final score was 1-0. Bradley and Troy won the awards for their magnificent defence work throughout the match. Congratulations to all the Under 11 players and their coaches, Daryl and River, for an outstanding season and thanks to all who came and cheered the boys on!

Under 11’s 6/09/2008 Maleny vs NYU

We had a good turn out to watch the U11’s vs NYU on Saturday. This was a must-win match for Maleny to move into the final. The boys went out with a great attitude and thrashed their opponents 6-0. Everyone did their bit and played really well as a team, despite some very tired team members who had just got home from a school camp! There was plenty of passing and talking with Bradley and Aiden controlling the game from the start. Aiden and Ari scored two goals each, with Banu and Erwan scoring one a piece; Tully came ‘oh so close’ to scoring and didn’t let up for the rest of the game ,putting in a fine performance throughout. A great result for Maleny who now go into the final against Buderim Black ,on Saturday, at Maroochydore. Aiden and Tully took home this week’s awards. Great work guys, just one to go!

Under 11’s 30/8/2008 Maleny vs Buderim Black

This was the first round in the semi-finals and the Under 11’s seemed a little nervous going into this match; they were keen to win and go directly into the final. A bit of a mix-up from our defence gave Buderim the first goal and the half-time score was 3-0 to Buderim. Maleny settled in better for the second half, had some good opportunities and were unlucky not to score a couple of times. Josh finally put one in with a brilliant bicycle kick which took everyone by surprise (and boosted his bank balance!). Alistair had a great game and frustrated his opponent by sticking to him no matter what. Bradley showed his skills as an all round excellent player and saved the day a couple of times. Great keeping by Danyon in the second half, kept the final score to 3-1 in Buderim’s favour. Maleny now go into the second round of semis against NYU on Saturday (6/9/08). Well done Bradley and Danyon our award winners this week. Congratulations to all the players (and their coaches) on winning the Premiership for 2008 U11’s (2) boys (a first in this division for Maleny). Thanks to Darryl and River for their dedication and passion over the years, which has seen this team improve out of sight and brought out the best in them: Couldn’t have done it without you guys!

2008 PRESENTATION DAY

Date: 14th September 2008

Venue: Maleny Showgroungs (small sided games end)

Time: 10-30am to 4-00 pm

Format:10-30am Presentation of trophies to commence

1-00 pm Lunch of Hamburgers & Sausage in blanket.Vegetarian Burgers and Sausages also provided.

2-00pm Games/Activities commence including soccer games players v parents,sack races,water relays,3 legged races and leap frog. We are also providing a Jumping Castle for the litte ones.

3-45 pm Clean-up & day concludes. All players and families including brothers/sisters/grandparents are invited and will be catered for. All food and drinks will be provided and cold water will be available throughout the day. As it is a Family Day it will be an ALCOHOL FREE DAY .

It’s Finals Time

Congratulations to our Under 11 Boys div2 who are Premiers for 2008. Also our Under 13 girls div2 who have also made the finals. With our Under 11 girls just missing the finals by 2 points and our Under 14 boys div2 finishing a credible 5th this has been a very successful season for our Club. This season also saw the formation of a Womens team for the first time in many years. Although they didn’t make the finals they had a lot of fun and improved significantly as the season went on. Hopefully they will be back next year.

Good luck to our two finalists and we are sure you will do the club proud in the final series.

Under 11’s 23/08/2008 Maleny vs Maroochydore

Maleny under 11’s had another good win against Maroochydore, at home, on Saturday despite the windy conditions. The first goal came,from Erwan ,within the first five minutes of play, with many more to follow; Aiden scored a couple of beauties!! At half-time Maleny was 4-1 up. Great passing and calling by the boys kept them ahead and the final score was 8-1 to Maleny. They retain top position on the points ladder and will meet Buderim Black in the semi-final next Saturday (to be played at mid-day at BG’s ) so come along and cheer them on! Well done Hayden on scoring your 1st goal of the season, we loved it! Congratulations to the trophy-getters, Aiden and Erwan.

Under 11’s 16/08/08 Maleny vs Coolum

The Under 11’s lost on Saturday, for only the second time this season, against a strong Coolum side. Maleny were a little ‘flat’ during the first half and only one goal was scored(by Coolum) when it skimmed high into the net with our goalie just getting his fingertips to it. The second half saw Maleny pick up a level with better marking, passing and calling. Kieran stuck to his man like ’superglue’ and Banu worked the field beautifully. Coolum scored a second ‘finger-skimming’ goal to go to a 2-0 lead, but Maleny meant business and came back with a super goal from Ari, quickly followed by a second, also from Ari, to level the game at 2-all; but when the second goal was dis-allowed the game ended with a final score of 2-1 to Coolum. It was great to have Aiden back on the field, after he’d been out of action because of sickness; Bradley was unwell but didn’t let his team down; and Beau was ‘a bit’ late but made up for it when he got there. Great effort Maleny! Congratulations to Banu and Kieran who took home this week’s awards.

Under 11’s 2/08/2008 Maleny vs Caboolture

The Under 11’s were off to a strong start on this very windy morning, and came close to scoring a goal within the first few of minutes, but a good save from Caboolture’s goalie kept us scoreless. There was great play from both teams but Maleny had the upper hand. Strong team work saw goals scored by Josh, Erwan and Ari. Banu appeared tire-less on field today and was everywhere. Good defence from Alistair with his fearless tackles. A great save from Danyon and a spectacular header by Josh, to defend the goal, kept the final score to 3-0 to Maleny. Good, solid performances from Kieran and Erwan won them this week’s awards. Well done guys!
