U16G Maleny 3 v Buderim 4

Maleny lost to 3-4 to Buderim in the 1st semi final played at Caboolture on Saturday.

We held Buderim out from scoring until the last minutes of the 1st half; this rocked our team who came out firing into the second half. Our first goal was scored from a brilliant header by Hannah Forbes bringing us to 1-1. This lifted our spirits and gave us inspiration to be back in the game and Chloe Fuller set up a beautiful goal for her team mate Inca Hohn. Moments after Buderim scored another goal, 2-2. Another quick goal from Buderim made it 2-3; it was a neck and neck game! Maleny fought hard in spite of our fullback Sarquin Hunt being injured. Buderim, true to their goal scoring record, put another in the net making our job even harder. Gabby Jackson scored a goal from outside the area with a free kick making it 3-all. Buderim was the stronger attacking team on the day and scored their 4th goal which was a final blow for Maleny. With only minutes left Maleny fought hard to the finish.

Encouragement award went to Sarquin Hunt for her staying power, while playing with an injury, until the last minutes of the game. Best player of the match went to Molly Erickson our goal keeper for her outstanding performance for her team.
We are very proud of our team and the way they conducted themselves in true Maleny style, with great sportsmanship on and off the field. The girls still congratulated Buderim and made a bridge for them to run under.

Maleny U/16girls has had an awesome season, thank-you girls for your courage and commitment. You are all winners in our eyes.

Match Report 21 August U16G

U16G Maleny 7 v Coolum 0

Maleny had a grand finish to the soccer season on Saturday, at Maleny’s home ground, with a 7-0 victory over Coolum; this cements their place in the semi-finals.

The team were a little rattled by the late start to the game but made a comeback in the first half with Chloe Fuller scoring the 1^st goal. Coolum fought hard but failed to put a score on the board.

In the second half Inca Hohn (alias red frog warrior) unleashed the beast and scored a hat trick. Shannon Jones blasted a ball in the net to score another of her famous goals from outside the area. Chloe Fuller shot another outstanding strike on the run and the final blow was dealt by Hannah Forbes as she was unleashed into the forwards for a shot at goal; the Coolum keeper tried to save it but came off second best with a blow to her shoulder.

Best player was awarded to Inca Hohn and Encouragement award went to Shannon Jones for her consistent play and lightning save in front of the goal box. Great effort girls, we are very proud of you.

U16G Maleny 2 v Bribie 0

Shannon Jones came out firing in the first minutes of the game. What is it with these Maleny girls? Bribie were just warming up and didn’t expect Maleny to score.

The team were fierce and Bribie fought hard, not afraid to put in some really hard hits to try and put Maleny off their game. Unfortunately for them they didn’t realise that these girls from the Mountain Ranges are built tough. Gabby Jackson proved she still has a golden boot, when she scored our second goal from a free kick from 30 metres out.

Bribie came back with a plan to get on top of us in the second half. They were bitterly disappointed as we held them out from scoring.

Our best player of the match went to Hannah Forbes for her ferocious play and Shannon Jones received the Encouragement Award for her never give up attitude in the midfield.

Great game team. Keeping up the momentum for the season finale.

U16G Maleny 2 v Beegees 1
Another fantastic win on the week-end for our Maleny U/16 girls against the Beegees!
Straight from kick off our girls came out firing. Shannon Jones our power house centre-mid fielder secured our two goals in the first half; the back line then just had to hold them out from scoring. We almost achieved that until Beegees were awarded a penalty shot at goal.
Mairead Devlin was dynamite; playing out of her usual position from full back to right midfield, she proved to be a hand full for the Beegees opposition.
The girls fought hard in the payback match, having been defeated 2-0 last time they came up against them. With great relief the full time whistle blew and Maleny once again proved to be hitting form in the last stretch of the competition. Exciting times for Maleny Rangers!
Mairead Devlin was awarded Best player and Encouragement award went to Hannah Forbes for her unrelenting, tenacious attitude in defence.
Great game girls, you do Maleny proud.

U16G Maleny 6 v Maroochydore 0

A wonderful game at Maroochydore on Saturday. Maleny came off victorious against the Maroochydore side, 6-0. Our girls really hit their form and have started to see goal scoring rewards for their hard earned efforts at training.

Our pocket rocket, Chloe Fuller, blasted 5 goals into the net; the first within the first minute of the game. Her partner in crime and fellow striker, Mary-Anne Bryce, kept charging at the opposition until she put her own mark on the goals. Our defence line proved to be rock solid once again, leaving the opposition with a clean sheet for the full game.

The team is proving to be a pretty handy outfit and we aim to keep improving on our goal scoring record and maintain our position through to the semis.

Player of the Match went to Chloe Fuller and the Encouragement Award was given to Sophie McIntyre for her outstanding fight on the field. Congratulations girls for a great win.

U16girls Maleny 1 Buderim 0

Maleny beat Buderim 1-0 at our home ground on Saturday. The girls played an outstanding game and consistently had possession. We still maintained our defensive record and managed to score in the 2^nd half after several shots at goal. Our pocket rocket, Chloe Fuller, put our winning goal in the back of the net much to the distress of Buderim. Our line of defence is still an awesome force as we held out Buderim from scoring. Outstanding play from Gabby Jackson saw her awarded Player of the Match and the Encouragement Award went to Sarquin for exceptional play in the back line and her versatility when switched to forward.

The girls had lots of fun. Well done team. Great game Maleny!

U16girls Maleny 2 Noosa 0 This was a great win against Noosa. We were down with no subs and had sick players too. A huge thank you for the mammoth effort put in to hold everything together and score 2 goals in the second half. The encouragement award went to Renee Billing for her never give up attitude and Best Player went to Inca Hohn for an outstanding effort. Special thanks to Chloe & especially Sarquin, for the ten minutes she gave in the forward line; even while sick and with her knee strapped she was able to turn it into another goal for the team. A big thank you to Molly for being able to be at the game during your time of sadness, our condolences to you and your family.

Congrats on the awesome win yesterday Maleny 2- Kawana 0. We are very proud of the way in which you girls conducted yourself in the heat of the game and under enormous pressure.

Shannon Jones got best player of the match displaying that never die attitude of the Maleny U/16s. Encouragement Award went to Sarquin Hunt for her mammoth effort to play on, fighting injury and fatigue. Great game girls you all did Maleny proud.

Bribie 1 v Maleny 3. Our Maleny U/16 girls beat Bribie with a huge effort, considering 2 of our girls had allergic reactions and had been hospitalized last night. The two sick girls played and replaced each other so we had only one sub everyone else had to play full game. A great morale booster win for us, our mood was high. Best player went to Chloe Fuller, Encouragement Award went to Maryanne Bryce. Congratulations team. A much deserved win for us..
