The last time the U14Gs met Beegees they played a tough match but determination and discipline gave them the victory. This time a slow start and a failure to play cohesive football meant the girls were disappointed.  The team had moments when their passing and control were excellent and individual players showed great determination, particularly in defence, but Beegees were too strong and the result was a 2-0 loss.

The girls again travelled to Coolum on the weekend but this time they came home disappointed with a win going to the home side. Final score 2-0 in Coolum’s favour.

The U14Gs arrived at Maroochydore determined to face up strongly to the only team to have denied them 3 points this season.  Both sides put up a strong fight with neither able to make a mark against the other.  All the girls played bravely but Ellie in particular showed 110% determination.  The final result was a 0:0 draw.

The goals came thick and fast in the first half of the U14 Girls match against Caboolture.  Sophie started the scoring early and Erin put a second goal in soon after.  Despite Caboolture pulling back with a consolation goal, Erin scored her second and Ellie’s shot also found the back of the net. 

In the second half the Caboolture team came out showing more determination but Maleny’s strong defence line prevented any serious attacks on their goal. 

Final Score:  Maleny 4, Caboolture 1.

The Maleny U14 girls suffered their first defeat this season against a strong Maroochydore side.  Despite brave defending from Hailie, Maroochydore scored 3 goals whilst the Maleny girls were unable to find the back of the net.  Final Score - Maleny 0: Maroochydore 3

The U14Gs maintained their unbeaten record this weekend when they played away against Kawana.  The first goal came in the first half thanks to Sophie who also assisted in the 2nd goal, after half time, when she sent a lovely high cross from the wing straight into the box for Erin to put home.  The girls are going from strength to strength with all players showing a committed team effort.

The U14G had a tough home match against Beegees going 1-0 down in the first half, but sheer determination from the forwards helped them pull even by half time. The second half was again a tough battle.  Sophie took some tough tackles at the front and Finleh was solid in goal.  The break came via a nice pass from Luisa through to Erin who secured the 2-1 victory.

Coolum have posed problems for our girls’ teams for several seasons but Saturday’s match saw Maleny victorious in a hard fought, closely matched game. The only goal of the match came from Erin who made an amazing, individual run up the centre and finished beautifully. 

In the 2nd half Coolum battled in a determined manner and had several good shots, which Finleh deftly handled, but Maleny’s defence was simply too strong for them to penetrate.

Over four days during the Easter break, sixteen boys and girls from Maleny Rangers U12 and U14 teams were treated to an intensive skills clinic run by respected coach Rui Spinola of ATFA (Australian Technical Football Academy).

This was a great opportunity for some of our junior players to improve and develop their football skills right here on the Range and the wet, muddy conditions did nothing to dampen the spirits of all concerned, with only one session being moved to an alternative, indoor venue.

All players took home an ATFA T-shirt and an Adidas ball along with their new and improved skills.
