U12girls just missed out on Saturday with a 2-1 loss to Maroochydore. The girls put in a huge effort in a very tough game. We’re very proud of them, and look forward to celebrating the season.

Yes, we are talking about “The” Chelsea Football Club from London, and there is a great opportunity for the young soccer players of Maleny to participate in a special soccer training course in Maleny, provided we can get the numbers.

Chelsea FC have developed one of the most respected professional camp programs in Europe. Chelsea FC have now teamed-up with ‘Football Coaching International’ to deliver high quality Academy & Developments Camps for junior players, where maximum development becomes the by product of creating a positive and safe learning environment.

The Development Camps will be run from Monday 28 June until Thursday 1 July from 1:30 – 4:30pm. If we can get 12 players from Maleny, a clinic will be able to run at our very own ground.

At the moment we are offering the course to all players from U12 to U14 Girls and Boys teams.

The cost of the course is $190 per player, however if we get the numbers we will also get a 10% discount which will mean the cost will be $170, furthermore the club is proposing to run fundraising activities to give the first 12 players registered a further $40 discount, reducing the cost to $130, so now is the time to act.

 All players will receive:
· Qualified Chelsea coaching staff
· Chelsea FC Camp T-Shirt
· Chelsea FC Certificate and Medal
· FCI Skills and Speed Testing Certificate
· Talent Identification Programs for all ages and levels
· A unique 12 hours of football education from one of the worlds leading clubs.

U12girls Div 1: Buderim Orange 0 v Maleny 5 – well done again girls

U12boys Div 2: Maleny 0 v Buderim 2 – We played a hard game, keeping the pressure up to Buderim.

U13boys Div 2: Maleny 3 v Maroochydore 1 – Another great win for U13B today with all players putting in 100%. Maroochydore scored the first goal but it was all Maleny’s game after that. Goals were scored by Aiden (1), Danyon (1) & Troy (1); with Luke, Bodhi & Manikya taking home the player awards this week. Great play by all the boys and thanks to Matty & Oliver from U12B for helping out again.

U14girls Div 2: Maleny 4 v CSPU 2 – Another win for the in form U14Girls team. CSPU was only able to feild a 10 strong team who refused to give in easily. This weeks game had our girls running all over the field with some huge kicking from both teams. Once again the training they have been getting from Eugen proved to be the decider, with great passing, tackling, positioning and goal defence , hence our win. Justly deserved, the Player of the Week Award, had to be given to Ruby Scott. Her talent with the ball and the way she helps set up other players, not to mention her 2 goals, made our decision easy. Cara Alexandar, winner of the Encouragement Award, showed everyone what can happen when you step out of your comfort zone. An amazing 2min tackle was a a battle of wills and skills that saw Cara the victor. Well done girls.

U16 girls Bye

Womens(3) Cooroora 0 v Maleny 1 – Congratulations ladies, you played a tight game and came home with the goods.

A congratulations is in order for eight of Maleny’s under twelve soccer players who were recently selected to play in the annual Glasshouse District team.

Playing for the girls were Eireann Devlin, Ruby Donoghoe, Courtney Cauley, Jade Graham, Afrikah Mcgladrigan and Suzy Wootton. And, for the boys, Kai Chapman and Matthew Newman.

These skilled and determined youngsters played six games over two days at the Buderim field last week and each were fun, exciting and fast-paced.

Spectators were kept on the edge of their seats as the girls and boys played their best for the winning title. They all demonstrated excellent teamwork and had a lot of fun. Needless to say, we are all looking forward to next year’s trials.

Out of the district competition, Ruby Donoghoe and Afrikah McGladrigan were then selected to play in the “All Stars” play-off match. The All Stars consists of twenty-four girl players and of these, twelve were to be selected to represent the Regional team.

A special note of recognition goes to Afrikah McGladrigan who, with her natural skills and outstanding speed and agility, made it into the Regional team. We wish Affi and the girls all the best this season.
