Thankyou for your support and help at the Show this weekend, the event proved a big success. Such a success in fact that we have decided to recreate some of the atmosphere and have a special canteen open on Tuesday June 14th after training where we will again be selling the delicious toasties that went down so well this weekend! We will be selling toasties and a drink for $5.

Thankyou to everyone who donated soups and cakes – your containers will be available for collection from the canteen on Tuesday 7th June after training.

There will be three individual awards and one team award. Participation, development and commitment is the key for all award categories but especially for the ‘Team Award’. Teams which are nominated for the ‘Team Award’ will receive a fantastic Optus Small Sided Football kit.

The Maleny Show is almost upon us and it represents one of our main fundraising events of the year. The Football Club is running a foodstall from 6am -9pm Friday & Saturday 3rd and 4th June. As you can imagine we would love to see vast numbers of volunteers to make this year a success and fun for everyone. If you can spare some time over the Show weekend or on the Sunday morning to help clear up if would be most gratefully received.

Key organizer of this event is Annemette Markwort. She will oversee the kiosk throughout the show but requires a minimum of 3 other people on each shift PLUS a person dedicated on the BBQ for each shift (total of 4 extra people).

Additionally we are looking for any donations of cookies, biscuits, muffins or soups. Any donations of muffins etc need to have an ingredients list attached. These can then be dropped off to Annemette at soccer training the night before the show (Thursday evening – 2nd June) or directly to our stall on the Friday & Saturday mornings. Could you also please let Clive know what you will be able to donation, so we have an idea on quantities.

If volunteers could reply to Annemette on 0400 703 588 or her email markwort@bigpond.net.au,  with times that they can help that would be great. It’s a great way to get to know other parents better, and is a lot of fun.

The day kicked off at 9am with beautiful blue skies and a gentle breeze and continued on until early afternoon, with rain holding off until the final matches.

For the Maleny Rockets this was a fantastic start to the season and the team played great football, with some fine displays of passing and teamwork in general, proving they will be a force to be reckoned with throughout the season.

As with any event, it takes many dedicated volunteers to make things run smoothly and there were plenty of positive comments about the condition of the fields and the running of the event, as well as congratulations on having organized it at such short notice.

Thank you to our members and their families who helped with baking, setting up, preparing and serving in the canteen, packing up and for generally assisting where needed; without such volunteers we could not have run the event. Thanks also to David & Fiona Lapsley for providing the fabulous U9’s team photo.

And lastly a huge thank you to all the teams and their families for making the trip up to Maleny to be part of the carnival; seeing the smiles on the players’ faces as they left with their medallions and ice blocks is proof of the value of these events.

Maleny U9’s Impressive at Coolum Carnival

Maleny Rangers U9’s team attended a carnival at Coolum on Saturday August 7^th. They played teams from Noosa, Kawana and Maroochydore, which normally they would not come up against in their division on a weekly draw.

Our team played 4 great games and achieved impressive results. Oscar Ervik, a new club member this year, was elated to score his first ever goal!   Congratulations to all the players who put in a tireless effort; all came away with player medallions at the end of the day. Under 9’s is a non competitive division.

On Saturday over 300 footballers from across the Sunshine Coast, met at the Maleny showground where the Maleny Rangers FC hosted an Under 6 Football Carnival.

The gorgeous weather ensured a great turn out at the Carnival, where each team played 4 matches over the course of the day. How fantastic to see the 4-a-side teams in their club strips running around, enthusiastically chasing the ball.

pen arms. As with any big event, it takes a lot of dedicated volunteers to make it happen. Thank you to our members and their families who were able to bake goodies for the stall, set-up, organize, serve at the various food stalls, pack-up and generally assist where needed

Our Club is also fortunate to have many members of our community who, although not currently playing for the club, are as good as Ranger members; these are the wonderful people who come along to events such as this just to help out and enjoy the community spirit that envelops the day. Thank you again, to these wonderful people, without whom we would have struggled; in particular Kate Brown and John Brown, who were the key organizers and our volunteer photographer, Stephen Lyon, for the fantastic action shots!

The Flames played a great match against the closely matched Caboolture Taipans. The kids put on a real show of how far the team has come this season in the areas of positioning, passing and team work. Congratulations to the players of the week Flynn & Sean. Well done to all the players.

Maleny Rangers will be hosting the 2nd and last U6 Carnival this season. It is traditionally, our 2nd major fundraiser for the year. With 320 U6 players expected, we need all the help we can get. We’ll need help for the following times. Please contact me, if you can assist.
