game 1. Sat 17th May we played Maroochydore
Maroochydore must have been intimidated by the Maleny squad as they tried to sneak an extra player on the field at the start. Even when pegged back to the regulation 9 players Maroochydore played well and managed to sneak one past the keeper after just 5mins. Owen was kept busy with three goals saving in a row before Maleny found their feet and attacked back. Bodhi’s first strike went wide but then Briac & Shellene? moved the ball up the wing in a brilliant position to play and Bodhi pounded it into the oppenent’s net to leave the scores. A couple of great clearing kicks from Sholto helped to stop Maroochy from scoring again.
final score 1-1
game 2. we played coolum
A great game against a team that has played together for seven years, some good teamwork and excellent defence were on display from maleny in this game who held their opponents scoreless for the first half.Coolum managed to sneak a goal past Owen in the thirteenth minute. A blistering answering strike from Bodhi missed narrowly. Some keen teamwork gave Maleny one more good opportunity, but the Coolum goalie was too good and Maleny were held scoreless. Coolum managed a doubtful second goal on the siren, kicking the ball out of Owen’s hands.
final score 2-0
game 3.we played Buderim
This team were short two players so we lent them Serena and Demi (who played very well for the opposition) The two teams were closely matched and both played very well. A strike from Buderim sailed high over Owen’s head to bring up the first score of the game. Maleny had the answer just a minute later when Bodhi picked off a Buderim goal kick and slammed it into the net from 10metres out. The two teams battled hard for the rest of the game but neither could pull ahead.
final score 1-1
game 4. we played Caloundra snakes
Sholto takes over in goal for this game and Owen gets a chance to show his freshness on the field. The players were starting to tire for this match, but still ran hard in the warm conditions. Maleny demonstrated their rapidly growing skills , keeping the ball in their half for a large portion of the game. Unfortunately they were unable to get past the Caloundra goalie to have that reflected in the score line.
final score 1-0
